I’m Dr. Elizabeth harris
As a clinical psychologist, I advise how to create supportive environments and emotional outlets to meet the child with support wherever the child is. The Garden provides guidance that integrates psychotherapeutic intervention and the use of meditation to equip teachers, providers and parents to empower youth to be positively engaged in school, with family members and with peers.
Working with youth has given me the opportunity to re-experience the world from a lighter perspective. There is a lack of venues for emotional expression with a focus on mental wellness resulting in the struggle we see in our children today. Children and adolescents seek to utilize the tools they have to overcome the challenges they experience in life. The common resiliency factor is the utilization of the talents, skills and abilities that they have been naturally given and skillfully developed. I believe our youth will change the world if given the necessary guidance and opportunity. Meditative environments have the ability to influence our children when we don’t have the words. If we plant these seeds in our youth and cultivate their growth, they will be well-equipped to craft a brighter future that impacts us all.
